What does it mean to be a Conservative church?

Traditional, conservative, biblical, rooted in the teachings of the early church…call it what you’d like, at Coastline Church we simply believe in Practicing the Way of Jesus.

What Is Christianity?

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is the core of the Christian faith. Our faith is based on the Bible – the Holy Scriptures containing both the Old and New Testaments – and emphasizes the concepts of love, grace, forgiveness, and redemption.

Since its genesis in the 1st century CE at the day of Pentecost, countless interpretations have sprung forth, all aiming to decode God’s real message. Followers have used various terms to differentiate themselves, with “conservative” being one of the most popular (and bringing even more variations to the table).

To be “conservative” can mean to believe that the Bible is accurate in all ways. No matter the philosophies and ideologies that societies introduce, historical and biblically controlled Christianity, with Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior, is the only true faith.

Some “conservative” Christians think that “worldly” activities veer them from God’s path. As such, they turn to the Bible to know what they should or should not do, from marriage, work, politics, and more.

In contrast, other “conservative” Christians believe some miracles found in the Bible should no longer be a part of modern church life. Consequently, they focus on personal holiness, Bible-based evangelism, and church discipline.

“Conservative” is, therefore, like other terms that attempt to define Christianity — subjective. One person may understand it as a political or social affiliation, while another may see it as an attitude toward God’s Word. Nevertheless, the Bible is there, still guiding people through the ways of Jesus.

“And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.” Ephesians 1:22-23

Finding a Conservative Church in Seattle

Finding a conservative church in a modern city like Seattle can feel impossible. Most metropolitan residents don’t participate in faith-based activities, making religious connections a minority. Fortunately, we at Coastline Church open our doors and introduce our own definition of what it means to be a conservative church in Seattle.

To us, “conservative” means to still see the Church as the body of Christ and the place where the Bible is the ultimate authority in all aspects of life. Despite the challenges of doing so, we celebrate and practice Jesus’ message and way of life in our day-to-day.

If you’re seeking a Christian community that values Biblical teachings and aims to follow them, we at Coastline Church have a seat for you.

“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” Romans 12:4-5

A Biblically Faithful Church

In a world where Christian beliefs and values are compromised, Coastline stands as an orthodox church community, rooted in the historic foundations of the Christian faith. We baptize every brother and sister who is ready to proclaim Jesus Christ as their Savior. Regardless of the meanings society may attach to your belief, we share and commemorate it with you. There is nothing greater than the privilege of being united with Christ.

“As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”” Matthew 3: 16-17
